'Gentlemen prefer blondes’, so goes the old adage suggesting that a girl with dark hair somehow takes second place to their lighter-haired cousins. But is this true? In 2011 Badoo ran a survey of 2,000 UK males which suggested a very different result. 33.1% replied that they preferred women with brown hair with 28.6% favouring black hair, meaning that 61.7% of men actually preferred women with deeper tresses. Only 29.5% reported a pension for the lighter. With similar results being recorded in France, Spain and Italy, where black manes were the most favoured, it seems that the blonde bombshell preference is a myth.
