The Hopeless Romantic

Crazy and eccentric in his own words, the prolific actor Tahir Raj Bhasin has created an everlasting impact on the audience with merely two characters.

Seen in a fleeting role in Kai Po Che in 2013, Tahir made his Bollywood debut as an actor in 2014, in Yash Raj Film’s Mardaani. As he played the character of Karan Rastogi, a Delhi-based human trafficking kingpin, the audience witnessed the birth of an exceptional actor. Associating a childhood memory with his dream of becoming an actor, Bhasin reminisced, “It was in the year 1992. I had gone to watch Agneepath with a few friends in an open theatre. Watching Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen, really gave me a powerful feeling. It was like watching God having effect. It was in that moment that I knew that I wanted to become an actor.”

Tahir began his fundamental acting training at the age of 15 at the Barry John Acting School. He started acting in 2012 in short films for the Film and Television Institute of India, and was seen in television commercials for companies like Samsung and Canon. In 2013, Tahir participated in an intensive active and voice training programme, conducted by acting legend Naseeruddin Shah. Today, he holds a spot in Forbes magazine’s ‘30 under 30 list’ for his work in Mardaani and Force 2.
