Living his Dream

Calm, poised and unassailably charming are some epithets which describe, but does not categorically define Vikrant Massey, who grew bit by bit, capturing the imagination of a nation much inspired from Bollywood. Ever since the talented actor made public appearance at a very young age of 17 in the primetime serial, Balika Vadhu on Colors, he has been successful in garnering recognition and appreciation from the masses.

In a freewheeling chat when he was asked how he was introduced to the world of acting he reminisced, “Acting happened to me on a very auspicious day of Diwali, when I was out with my friends dinning at Out of the Blue at Ville Parle. I was actually working with Shiamak Davar back then, but when I was told the figures it was quite lucrative to say NO. In India everybody wants to be either an actor or a cricketer, it is very difficult to stick your neck out, so there was no reason for me to say no to the offer I got.”

The versatile Vikrant who always wanted to be an actor, his acting skills manifested in his early childhood at the age of 5–7 performing and acting on stage. Although acting at the age of 17 happened very accidently, Vikrant has absolutely no regrets about the same as he was certain that he would grow up to be a professional actor. Looking back in time and doing something which he always aspired to, he feels, “Acting was meant to be.” Hailing from a non-acting family, the feisty actor has a different outlook towards challenges. “Struggle is very subjective and the definition might vary from person to person. God has been kind to me. 13 years in the acting industry and I still have no professional portfolio for myself. All the images that are available on Google are random images shot during the shoot. When I did the Disney show, it got me one work after the other. Every day of my life is an ambition, which I have to achieve. I just think that every scene is a screen shot and therefore, it has to be better than the earlier.” Talent requires no portfolio and this has been marvellously proved by Massey.
