Leaders Speak
|December 2016
In an exclusive interview with Leaders Speak, Senior Janta Dal (U) leader, and the member of parliament, Rajyasabha, RCP Singh asserted that his party will play a major role in coming Uttar Pradesh assembly election.
Q: Amid rumours, is there any possibility of Post alliance or Pre alliance?
A: As of now, we are more focused on eastern Uttar Pradesh. However, Political parties recognising our presence and reaching us for an alliance. But we are not approaching anyone. Still, our motive is to carry the limelight and more specifically, our focus is to point right candidate for popular constituencies and we’ll leave no stone unturned to support them. A popular remark published in a news blog that ‘RCP Singh is the brain of Nitish Kumar.’ What do you want to comment? Our Chief Minister has his own brain. Although, I have a good association with him since 1998 and it’s a long time. I was his private secretary when he used to be in Delhi, and I was his principal secretary when he was chief minister in Bihar and now as party’s Rajya Sabha MP.

Demonetization for Richer or for Poorer
Remember the times, when Baba Ramdev used to come on debates and fasten on his idea of economics and often suggests that ‘We should encourage small currency rather than big tenders’, The idea hark back live on the evening of 8th November, While taking a historical but stunning stand, The Union Government has decided to do away with Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 currency notes from midnight on 8th November. These notes will cease to be legal tender from the midnight of November 8, 2016, announced Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his television address to the nation on the same day. “The value of these notes becomes merely a paper,” he said in Hindi, adding that the move is to curb the circulation of counterfeit notes and fight black money.

A Tipping Point Missed
Before America and the world settle in firmly to the new Donald Trumpbased reality, let’s take a little trip down the road not taken. Suppose we had woken up last Wednesday morning to a President-elect Hillary Clinton. And let’s say that, instead of former Portuguese Prime Minister António Guterres, New Zealand’s Helen Clark or Bulgaria’s Kristalina Georgieva had been picked to succeed Ban Ki-moon as United Nations Secretary-General.Clinton would have joined the United Kingdom’s Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, helping achieve critical mass in the G7. And a female UN Secretary General would have placed women at the helm of two of the world’s three biggest international organizations (France’s Christine Lagarde already runs the International Monetary Fund).

Opportunities in Higher Education
The whole article is divided into 3 parts i.e. Opportunities in higher education, need of global tie ups and research based education. So let’s start with the first one that is opportunity in higher education. Its pity to see that, only 8% of the population reaches to the level of higher education. Governments (central and states) jointly have invested lakhs of crores... but what did they get in return... nill bate sannata... as we don’t know that what actually do we need from this education.

Coping With Exam Stress
The exam season is inevitably associated with words like stress, tension, worries and pressures in our minds. Be it when the exams are approaching, ongoing or when awaiting the exam results. Moreover, the stress levels increase not only for the students, but also for their parents, teachers, tutors, family members at large! However, the ultimate onus eventually falls back on the student, who is responsible for not only working towards performing successfully in the exams, but also to be able to manage the accompanying stressors eff ectively. Furthermore, besides the academic workloads, these additional stressors could vary from the worry of their parents, the expectations of the teachers, the comparison and competition with their peers, or the nagging from their tutors.

The Arithmetics Of Cashless India
Economist, Prasenjit Bose says,” Making India completely digital and going cashless is not possible right now. For that to happen, we need financial literacy. More importantly, we need digital literacy. We can’t force people to go digital in a country where two-thirds of the population reside in villages. Almost a quarter of the rural populace doesn’t have mobile phones, let alone smartphones. Many villagers do not have a bank account. They do not know how to open an account. Yet, we are forcing people to go cashless due to demonetization. That’s not the way to use technology. Basically, it is created for urban India and we can’t impose it on everyone.”
