A REGUILON OCCURRENCE?

Spurs v Maccabi Haifa

New signing SERGIO REGUILÓN won the Europa League with Sevilla last season – and he’s keen to repeat that feat in his first campaign in north London…

A REGUILON OCCURRENCE?

Forty-one days ago in Germany, Sergio Reguilón lifted the Europa League trophy with Sevilla.

Bringing the curtain down on a hugely impressive season on loan from Real Madrid, the left-back produced another characteristically action-packed performance to help his side topple Inter Milan 3-2 in the competition’s delayed final.

A consistent performer in La Liga throughout last term, the 23-year-old was rotated out of Sevilla’s side for the early stages of the competition but began to feature regularly in the knockout rounds as boss Julen Lopetegui rolled out the big guns.

He was so influential in his five appearances that he ended up being named in UEFA’s official Europa League Squad of the Season, despite playing less than half of the games his side was involved in.

Now he’s keen to embark on another successful journey in the competition in our colours – and is determined for us to get over the final qualifying hurdle against Maccabi Haifa tonight in order to book our place in the group stage.

“I had the chance to play and win the Europa League last season,” said the full-back, who joined us from Real on a five-year contract last month.

“I’m still young so I’m not that experienced, but I know it’s a great competition and I hope we can at first qualify, then go on to win it. I think that with the team that we have here, we have to aim to be in first places and to win trophies.
