So when the editor asked if I could make use of tickets to see the ‘The Kop’s Roman Carnival’ – a celebration of the fortieth anniversary of the great night in 77, I jumped at the chance.

He knew that I had a soft spot for Jimmy Case and so it was a no brainer!

Many, many years ago I had won a signed colour photo of him courtesy of Radio City, which was a big thing back then and it had pride of place above my bed! I then sent a thank you card c/o Anfield saying I was taking my ‘O’ levels that year. A few months later, and on the day of my first exam, I received a good luck card from none other than our then number 8, and it has been one of my prized possessions ever since!!
