‘Tic-Fire Questions With Ryan Christie…

Most memorable tournament you remember watching when you were younger?

It would probably be the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, which Spain won, and I actually ended up being on holiday in Spain when they won it. I was on holiday in Barcelona and everyone was going mental. I think I was still at school at the time because I remember rushing home so that I could watch the games. And the opening goal of the tournament, which Tshabalala scored for South Africa, was an absolute screamer. I remember watching that in my kitchen.

What do you listen to on your way to training?

I’m part of a car pool with Kris Ajer and Luca Connell, while Marian Shved dips in and out. If I’m not driving, I’m not very happy because Kris plays Norwegian stuff which is horrendous, Marian plays Ukrainian stuff, which is also horrendous, and Luca’s a softy at heart so he plays Ed Sheeran and things like that. I like a bit of everything. I want to say a bit of Drake, but Kris doesn’t like that, so I always get told off for that. Normally, it’s a bit more old school – songs from the 1980s and ‘90s that are more singalong tunes.
