Track Champ Claims Win On The Gravel

Third year in a row a GB track star has won gravel-strewn race.

Former world Madison track champion Emily Nelson turned her attention to road racing with a victory in the Women’s CiCLE Classic in Leicestershire on Sunday.

The Great Britain track rider used her speed to edge a tight sprint from a front group of 24 riders who came into Melton Mowbray to win the third round of the Women’s National Road Series.

The race was shortened from 65 miles to 43 miles due to a crash in the opening seconds of the race which resulted in a lengthy stoppage and seven riders requiring hospital treatment.
