Ewan edges narrow sprinters' victory

Champs-Elysées win sees young Australian top the fastmen list

Despite having the upper hand with three stage wins at the Tour de France Caleb Ewan hasn’t conclusively laid claim to the status of the best sprinter in the world right now, according to those inside the sport.

Ewan won three stages across the course of the Tour de France in a hotly contested sprinters’ field. The most recent win was on the final stage into Paris where he came from far back to pass all his rivals.

But opinion was split in the Tour paddock as to who the best sprinter in the world right now is.
