At Ubisoft's most recent showcase, fans were expecting to see little more than Assassin's Creed Mirage. What they got instead was a deep dive uncovering four more Assassin's Creed games, outlining what could easily amount to much of the series' next decade. Exciting stuff. Not to be outdone, CD Projekt Red quickly followed suit with its two big series, Cyberpunk and The Witcher. With little fanfare, the studio revealed plans for a quartet of Witcher games, a Cyberpunk sequel, and a new, original outing.
In the immediate term, that wealth of games and DLC for beloved series is extremely exciting - who wouldn't want more of those games? In a world where many big-name developers are chronically secretive about their upcoming projects, Ubisoft and CDPR's recent transparency is a breath of fresh air. But stop and think for a moment, and those recently-announced titles become almost pointlessly distant.
