There's no denying that smartphones are quite light, and even while some have become slightly larger in size, they're still small enough to slip in a purse or jacket pocket. Furthermore, you won't have to tie them to a camera strap, which means you won't be straining on your shoulder/neck all day, and you won't need to have a separate bag to preserve it. You won't be tempted to bring extra lenses, a flashgun, or other equipment with you, which will save room and weight.

Smartphones are wonderful because they can multitask. In addition to taking photographs and making phone calls, you can use the built-in map to plan routes, download applications that inform you where areas of interest are, and use it as a translator if you need to ask a question but don't know how to word it right.
