ARMED police swooped on a Plymouth neighbourhood after a teenage boy was spotted carrying what appeared to be a firearm. Locals in Southway reported seeing a ‘massive police presence with up to 12 vehicles in the area.

The incident, which unfolded on Whitehaven Way on Sunday at around noon, saw the road cordoned off at both ends. Multiple Devon and Cornwall Police vehicles, including armed response, were sent to the scene.

Officers were sent to the scene after a 999 call, reporting a male seen carrying what looked like a gun. A search was carried out of the area and a male matching the description was located, police said.
