Crucial meeting between Congress & NCP leaders in Mumbai today will decide the response to the Governor’s invitation

THERE is no end to twists and turns in Maharashtra’s ‘Game of Thrones’! On Monday night, NCP, the third-largest party in the state, was invited by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to stake claim to form the next government.

After meeting the Governor, state NCP president Jayant Patil said the party will discuss the issue with Congress and get back. The deadline is 8:30 pm, Tuesday.

Senior NCP leaders DY Patil, Ajit Pawar, Chhagan Bhujbal and Dhananjay Munde then reached party chief Sharad Pawar's residence to discuss strategy.

The invite came soon after Shiv Sena failed to submit letters of requisite support from Congress and NCP. This was mainly because Congress held back its support, saying it wanted more consultations with NCP.
