IAF's Unit In Ambala To Fly First Rafale Jets

The Ambala Air Force Station will be home to the first batch of Rafale fighter jets. The Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted a resurrection ceremony on Tuesday for the Ambala-based 17 Squadron or the Golden Arrows that will operate the multirole fighter aircraft.
The squadron will be the first unit of the Indian Air Force to fly the Rafale jets. The first Rafale is likely to be handed over to India in early October and Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh could be part of the ceremony to be held in France, sources said.
Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa was present during the resurrection ceremony in Ambala.
Incidentally, Dhanoa had commanded the 17 Squadron, which participated in Operation Safed during the Kargil War of 1999, as ‘Golden Arrows’ Wing Commander.
