Experts have confirmed that the end of 2019 will mark the hottest five year period on record and nations must increase their efforts to curb emissions threefold.

The World Meteorological Organization has made the revelation ahead of a major UN climate summit in New York today.
It will be attended by more than 60 world leaders, as Secretary-General Antonio Guterres pushes for countries to increase their greenhouse gas reduction targets.
