Airtel Rolls Out Digital Plan To Stave Off Jiofiber

BILLIONAIRE Sunil Mittal-led Bharti Airtel on Monday launched two new digital entertainment devices, a smart set-top box and a digital stick, to take on rival Reliance Jio’s upcoming home broadband service JioFiber.

The country’s third largest telecom player introduced Xstream Box and Xstream Stick under its revamped Airtel TV platform to tap into the 18-million broadband-connected homes in the country.

The Xstream Box, priced at Rs 3,999, is an Android 9.0-based device that will let users watch over 500 TV channels and allow them to access content via the preloaded Airtel Xstream app. It comes with a complimentary one year subscription worth Rs 999.

The Xstream stick, priced at Rs 3,999, is an Android 8.0-based device that can be plugged into a TV screen. An annual subscription of Rs 999 will allow a user to watch movies and shows from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5, Hooq, Hoi Choi, Eros Now, HungamaPlay and ShemarooMe among others. Users can also access Google Playstore to download other apps.
