MUSICIAN Greg Jackson is so overjoyed at the launch of his beloved Macclesfield FC – he’s even written a song about it!

- Jon Couch

MACC'S REVIVAL IS A SMASH HIT!

Singer/songwriter Greg initially penned some lyrics depicting Macclesfield Town’s sad demise from the Football League last year but has now gone back to the studio to reflect the new sense of optimism that has come with the club’s re-birth now that new owner Rob Smethurst and ex-Wales international Robbie Savage are at the Moss Rose helm.

Greg – frontman for the group Glass Ankle – first put pen to paper when Macclesfield Town were wound up in the High Court in September with debts totaling more than £500,000.

The writing was on the wall for the club that had been a constant in his life from a young age, having regularly attended matches with his father and friends right up until lockdown hit.

In the face of adversity, Greg channeled his thoughts to create Save Our Silkmen – a song born out of a burning passion for a football club on the brink of extinction.
