Rookie Gowling unfazed by boss’ role

IF YOU’RE rewarded for making sacrifices, then it promises to be some season for Josh Gowling and his Hereford troops.

Defender Gowling took the managerial reins on an interim basis in January following the departure of Russell Slade and impressed sufficiently to be given the job permanently in June, with Steve Burr as his assistant.

And while the coronavirus crisis would have put even the most experienced managers under pressure, player-boss Gowling has been determined to take it in his stride.

Indeed, he’s even been prepared to work for free to boost the Bulls’ prospects – and he’s not the only one.

The 36-year-old former Bournemouth, Gillingham and Kidderminster centre-back told The NLP:
