IT’S Bromley who take a slender advantage into the second leg as a Louis Dennis second half brace over turned a half-time Gateshead lead to settle an absorbing semi-final first leg.

A whirlwind start to the game saw Richard Peniket’s deflected drive hand Gateshead the lead inside 45 seconds before Brandon Hanlan’s dubious penalty levelled the game up, only for Danny Johnson to regain the lead for Gateshead four minutes before the break.

But it was the Dennis show in the second half, as he backed up his growing reputation with his 20th and 21st goals of the season.

Perhaps suffering as a result of the drawn out quarter-final saga with Spennymoor, which saw the replay finally take place on Wednesday, Bromley were caught cold in the opening 15 minutes as Gateshead broke through their defensive lines again and again.
