The financial troubles notwithstanding, the Naresh Goyal-led carrier managed to haul a whopping 45 tonnes of cargo on its Mumbai-London route.

The financially-troubled Naresh Goyalled Indian full-service carrier Jet Airways seems to have received a breather of sorts. It recently created history when it carried a whopping 45 tonnes of cargo on the Mumbai-London route. The load was the highest-ever carried by any Indian carrier in a single flight of a B777-300ER aircraft. Jet’s record is significant; two other international carriers have carried similar loads in B777-300s.
The cargo was a mixed one and comprised perishables (fruits and vegetables), engineering goods, garments, courier, leather goods and consolidation cargo. Said Pradeep Kumar, Sr. Vice-President, Jet Airways Cargo, “Air cargo is a vital part of the business at Jet Airways and this milestone is testament to our dedicated focus of growing cargo revenues, which has recorded a CAGR of more than 15 per cent in the past three years. Jet Airways operates B777-300s on the India-United Kingdom route, which allow us to carry over 100 tonnes of cargo daily. The air cargo market between India and the United Kingdom is growing rapidly at over 14 per cent in the past three years, in sync with passenger loads on the sector.”

India's race to build a new logistics powerhouse
India's air cargo industry is being reshaped by crisis — and opportunity. War-driven disruption across West Asia, rising freight rates, scarce freighter capacity and growing congestion at major airports are forcing the sector to adapt faster than ever before. Yet the turbulence has also opened a strategic window for India to position itself as a global logistics hub rather than merely a large cargo market
