Welcome to our inaugural series of lessons in which we’ll focus on virtuoso players from the rock, metal and instrumental guitar oeuvre. Who better to kick things off than the Maestro himself, Mr Yngwie Malmsteen, who irrevocably changed the face of heavy metal guitar when he burst on to the scene in the early 80s with the bands Steeler and Alcatrazz. The virtuosic Paganini style arpeggios and blistering classical-esque scale runs, all performed with his larger than life persona meant that Yngwie was destined to be a solo artist. In 1984 he released the first of 21 solo studio albums with Rising Force.
