YOU HAVE to go back all the way to 1998 to trace the journey of Boss Bottled. In many ways this is one of the scents that set the template for easy to wear perfumes; a prototype that Hugo Boss has also leaned on. It's kept the flankers coming, we particularly liked the Boss Bottled Tonic (that we checked out for THE MAN in 2018) among the recent iterations.
Hollywood A-lister Chris Hemsworth fronts this fragrance with a new campaign built around a theme that's particularly relevant in a post-pandemic world - "Every day is yours for the taking".
The iconic Boss Bottled flacon holds a grey-coloured fragrance with warm chestnut undertones that make a connection with one of the key notes in this scent. Our favourite design element is the brushed gold cap that lends to its appeal as a scent for the evening.
This is a party proof fragrance. Master perfumer Honorine Blanc whose CV includes scents like Polo Explorer from Ralph Lauren, is the nose behind this scent. The first thing you're likely to notice is the fresh burst of apple that is contrasted by black pepper and bergamot. The spicy heart unfolds with chestnut, cardamom and cinnamon oils before making way for the base notes of dark vetiver and musk that combine to create a smoky finish.
Boss Bottled EDP scores on sillage and longevity; this is an EDP after all. Aside from a night on the town, this one will work in the boardroom too. Hugo Boss plays it safe with this scent. It's certainly not exhilarating but is perfect for people pleasers who need to win over Co-workers and friends alike.
