A Round With Trump

If the Oxford English Dictionary used images to support its definitions of words, there’s a good chance you would find a portrait of Donald J Trump next to the word ‘divisive’. Arguably no other entrepreneur or politician in recent times has so dramatically polarised public opinion than the 70-year-old real estate developer, TV celebrity, casino and golf course owner and, now, President of the United States of America. In many people’s eyes, Trump is the antithesis of the modern politician in that he is an honest, shoot-from-the-hip straight talker who has the best interests of businesses and working-class Americans at heart.Others see him as a brash, outspoken bigot who has blustered his way into the White House on the back of empty promises and bravado.

What is certain, however, is that so many things have been written about Trump by a heavily biased media during the 18 months that have passed since he announced his Presidential candidacy back in June 2015 that it has become impossible to get to know the man and what he really stands for. Almost impossible, that is. After all, there’s only one way to discover what a person is really like – and that is to spend time with them on a golf course.
