Redefining Hospitality

Embarking upon its 70 years in the aviation industry, Garuda Indonesia is the official flag carrier of the largest archipelago nation—Indonesia. Started off in 1949, the airline today carries more than 25 million passengers in a year to over 40 domestic and 36 international destinations. At present, Skytrax, the prestigious UKbased international air transport rating organisation, counts it among the top 10 airlines around the world. No wonder that it has also been rated as a five-star airline. Headquartered in Jakarta, it first flew a DC-3 Dakota aircraftas a commercial flight from Calcutta to Rangoon in 1949 under the name of ‘Indonesian Airways’. Later that year, the first flight with the name of ‘Garuda Indonesian Airways’ flew the then President Soekarno from Jakarta to Yogyakarta.

Over the years, the Indonesian official airways has won many honours in the world of aviation services. Apart from being listed among the top 10 airlines of the world by TripAdvisor, it was also chosen as the best airline from Indonesia in the TripAdvisor TRAVELERS’ CHOICE Awards this year. The first Indonesian airline to join the SkyTeam, it has also been winning the title of ‘The World’s Best Cabin Crew’ in the SKYTRAX World Airline Awards since 2014.
