The only car of its kind on the planet, the Rolls-Royce is incomparable in the truest sense of the word

They say all good things take time…”Rome wasn’t built in a day.” They also say that money cant buy happiness. Well, an unnamed “most valued customer” of the uber-luxurious Rolls-Royce certainly knows his way around buying happiness. Imagine walking upto Rolls-Royce with a very specific request- to build a one-off car and working directly with the British marque’s design department in assisting with its creation. Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it? Not for the mystery man behind the “one-off luxury motor car like no other,” the Sweptail. Work began on the coach built car in 2013 and it was unveiled at Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza 2017.

The Rolls-Royce Sweptail is a nod to the “swept-tail” designed vehicles built by the brand in the Twenties and Thirties. The first thing one notices, while still in complete awe of the bespoke car, is the strong character of the front profile enhanced by the carmaker’s iconic Pantheon grille. It is the largest grille fitted to any modern-era Rolls-Royce and is milled from a single piece of aluminium, before being handpolished to a mirror shine. Justifying the name, is the rear half, with its “ultimate homage to the world of racing yachts that inspired the client.” The bodywork wraps under the car with no visible panel lines to the surface, much like the hull of a luxury ship. The car looks as elegant as a swan in motion, thanks to the bullet-tip centre brake light and lower bumper.
