Staffordshire-raised Fiona Culley has done her homework and is ready to attack the country scene with everything she has, Maverick's Megan Gnad catches up with her before she hits the big time...

Fiona Culley describes a musician’s life in Nashville as much like getting through secondary school, except everyone's trying to graduate to the big time. After moving to Music City and completely immersing herself in the culture – while putting in the hard yards and taking every opportunity that has come her way - the work has paid off and she’s now on track to be a breakout star of 2017. So it makes it all the more interesting that the country star is proudly British, and until now, has been keeping a very low profile as her work develops.

“I've been under the radar for the last couple of years, just basically learning my genre here in the place where country music is from,” says the Staffordshire-raised singer. “I don’t feel like you get that unless you’re here and you’re doing your shopping and buying your furniture, going out. I was told you need to go and do your dirty laundry in Nashville, so I’ve been doing my laundry here for four years.”
