JENNY SABIN STUDIO’S, LUMEN, THE WINNER OF YOUNG ARCHITECTS PROGRAM 2017 AT MOMA, IS AN IMMERSIVE INSTALLATION

Glow Web

With its unique immersive and interactive character, Lumen, an installation created by New York-based Jenny Sabin Studio, is the winner of the Young Architects Program 2017 at The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1. Its light-sensitive textile responds to the presence of viewers in a palpable way. Around one-million yard, digitally-knit and robotically-woven textile has been used to create the installation that spreads overhead in the museum courtyard like a canopy. It’s a web of 1,500 cellular components and 250 hanging tubular structures. It changes and evolves depending on the heat, light and density of matter or people around it.
