A Hyderabad-apartment sees an interesting turn of events (read design) when interior designer Simeen Quraishi and Architect Riyaz Quraishi join hands with its young owners. The end result is a cocoon filled with everything the couple desires, and then some more… but, with a stamp of practical luxury.

Realistic Indulgence

One knows that a project is exceptional when you hear its creator say, “And yes, there has to be special mention in the fact file for the owners who were helpful beyond measure.” This rare credit offering was by interior designer Simeen Quraishi who heads the Hyderabad-based firm Moriq Interiors & Design Consultants along with her husband, architect Riyaz Quraishi. These words are really heart-felt as it comes from a dynamic duo who have designed many homes, offices and public spaces in India and the Middle East for more than two decades. Having said that, they still look at each project with fresh eyes and are insistent on never repeating their designs — each is distinct, and bears an individualist stamp.

The young couple who owns the gorgeous home we feature here were ignorant of the Quraishi design principles, but they were completely wowed by their design sensibilities having seen another project the duo had worked on. “On the 30th floor of the same high-rise where the couple resides, we have designed a duplex for another client whom they happened to visit. They approached us to design a space with some minor layout changes, but which was otherwise an exact replica of that apartment in terms of design and decor. We told them that repeating a design was not how we function, but promised to give them something very unique taking into consideration all that they wanted for the house,” informs Simeen.
