Crossfit As A Transformation Tool
Fitness Magazine
|January - February 2018
Celeste MacIntosh explains how CrossFit has lead to a transformation in every area of her life.
-
You may feel that the intense, highly competitive environment at your local CrossFit box is not where the average woman would feel comfortable if her main aim was a total body transformation, but I can categorically state that you’d be wrong. Granted, it took me five years to find the right formula, but I’m now in the best shape of my life, even though that has never been my main aim. Let me explain. I don’t train for aesthetics. I train with the purpose of improving my performance. This means I train with greater intensity and volume than the average CrossFitter, with a broader focus, too, as I work a lot on my technique and to perfect my form, with accessory work like mobility and stretching. This is what’s needed to maintain my title of Africa’s Fittest Woman. That means it’s not all WODs all the time for me. My primary aims are therefore to get fitter to improve my endurance, and get stronger and more efficient, not leaner and shapelier. Yet, here I am, at my leanest and looking better than ever.
