|June - July 2017
Dr Sagar Maheshwari explains how Chest X-rays help diagnose your lung health.
A chest radiograph, also called a chest X-ray ( CXR) or chest film, is a projection radiograph of the chest and the most common investigation in medicine used to diagnose conditions. A chest X-ray produces images of the heart, lungs, airways, vessels and the bones of the spine and chest. An X-ray (radiograph) is a non-invasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Imaging with X-rays involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging. Chest X-rays are mainly used to evaluate lungs, airways and heart. However we can assess bony structure like ribs, clavicle and spine for fracture or other pathological conditions.
