The return of Worzel Gummidge in two adventures written by and starring Mackenzie Crook was one of the highlights of last year’s festive TV. Now, the talking scarecrow is back in Worzel Gummidge: Saucy Nancy, a new seaside story featuring guest stars Shirley Henderson and Vanessa Redgrave.
Here, Crook, 49, star of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, sets the scene…
What can you tell us about Worzel’s latest adventure? It’s a simple road trip, really. The kids and Worzel find Saucy Nancy, a ship’s figurehead, in a salvage yard, and take her back to the seaside. There are lots of adventures and mishaps along the way.
