Who Do You Think You Are?

Monday, BBC1 HD, 9pm

Tough-talking Robert Rinder may be the uncompromising doyen of the courtroom in Judge Rinder but he demonstrates his softer side in this week’s Who Do You Think You Are?

The ex-Strictly star looks into the harrowing life of his Jewish maternal grandfather Morris Malenicky, whose parents and siblings were killed by the Nazis in concentration camps during the Holocaust, while Morris had to work as forced labour in a factory.

BROUGHT TO LIFE

‘Morris never really told us what happened,’ says Robert. ‘The Holocaust was a shadow in the family though, as he’d behave in challenging ways because of what he’d been through. When he died, we found he’d kept handkerchiefs with food in and a library of books about the Third Reich.’
