Mixing Extravaganza With Image Building

Creating something from scratch, enhancing the image of a product, delivering the product without any hiccups are just some of the aspects of being in the Event Management and the Public Relations (PR) industry. Event managers are the sentinels of a successful event, while the same can be said for PR managers who create a brand image which is unparalleled. Be it the opening of the 2010 Commonwealth Games or the Incredible India campaign, event managers and PR professionals worked tirelessly to make them a huge success.

If we take the example of the 2010 Commonwealth Games, despite all the controversies surrounding it, the games were a huge success and were concluded without any glitch. Coming to the Incredible India campaign, it changed the way the Indian tourism industry was perceived. There was a significant rise in the number of people travelling to India after the campaign was launched. Such is the power of successful PR campaigns.

Event management

In the past few years, India has witnessed an unprecedented increase in all types of events, be it music festivals such as NH7 Weekender or literature festivals such as the Jaipur Literature Festival or the increasingly popular Comic Cons held across India, several sports leagues such as ISL and IPL to even personal events such as marriages, event management is the industry to be in, especially for those who love the world of organised chaos. “To be an event manager, one must have the ability to multitask while fighting against crazy deadlines and use one’s experience in order to execute the event flawlessly,” says Raghav Tewary, who is an independent consultant and has worked with major event companies.
