You know you have arrived in Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay when you see the Maths and Physics club proclaiming “This is going to be fun” while announcing an event of Group Theory and Rubik’s Cube. Another announcement is for the “Star Party” which, as it turns out, is organized by the Krittika – The Astronomy Club and is a star gazing session on a hostel terrace and nothing to do with stars that walk the planet earth. Similarly, the Institute Technical Council invites students to give wings to their dreams and commit their summer vacation to events called “Summer of Science” and “Seasons of Code”. By participating in these events, the students can build their own intelligent robot dog or a small particle accelerator..

What is noteworthy and the common denominator in all such events is that all these clubs are student-run and students are spending their personal time, outside of the traditional classroom, to learn, experiment and innovate
