Sometimes, it’s that one impulsive decision that can chalk out an entire life trajectory. Case in point, US Navy lawyer Alvir Sadhwani, who pretty much studied law on a whim. Little did he know then that he’d develop a passion for the rule of law and advocating for human rights.

An active duty lawyer with the US military, Alvir was born in Singapore and raised in Los Angeles, with roots firmly in Sindh. He grew up brazenly American, but a couple of well-timed bumps along the way offered the perfect opportunities for him to anchor himself both personally and professionally.

We’ll start with the professional. Law was never part of Alvir’s academic plan, and consequently, his career plan. But after he crossed medicine and engineering off his list, this seemed like the only suitable option. Luckily for him, all the pieces fell in place, and he found that he fit the puzzle perfectly!

A strong academic background, supplemented by volunteer opportunities and student jobs, became the backbone to Alvir’s career in law. He’s got a Bachelors in International Studies – Political Science, a Masters in International Affairs and of course, a Juris Doctorate (law degree).
