While celebrating his 17th birthday with a family fun day at his home at Australia Zoo on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast on December 1, Robert Irwin’s late father Steve “The Crocodile Hunter” was never far from his mind.

Sharing a video featuring archive footage of his dad on his Instagram, Robert – who is making a name for himself as a talented photographer – wrote, “I am beyond honoured to continue my dad’s legacy and I hope more than anything that he would be proud.”

His older sister Bindi, 22, who was 8 years old when their dad was killed during a tragic accident while filming a documentary in 2006, reassured him he was. “Dad is always with you. Love you so much,” she responded in the post.

When his mother Terri, 56, also shared a touching post to celebrate the occasion, along with a gorgeous new image of her only son, fans were awestruck by just how similar Robert is to the father he lost when he was only 2. “Steve would be so proud of you all and Robert is the spitting image of Steve in every way,” commented one.
