Kidney failure is a serious topic but it’s also one that’s misunderstood. This is why Thomas Middleditch (Richard Hendricks in comedy series Silicon Valley, 2014-2019) is perfect as therapist Drew in the new comedy show B Positive (2020-now). “I am socially awkward and kidney failure isn’t the easiest thing to talk about, because it’s awkward telling people that you’re having trouble peeing,” says Thomas. His character isn’t just dealing with the bad medical news, he’s also recently divorced and he’s battling to find his feet with his angsty teenage daughter. “It’s the perfect storm and Drew is at the center of it all. He’s trying to keep his head above water, but it’s tough. He feels like he is constantly being pulled under the water.”
