Talk about range! The three characters Lily Collins plays in projects streaming right now couldn’t be more different: an extreme animal-rights activist in Okja, an anorexic struggling to recover in To the Bone and an aspiring producer in 1930s Hollywood in The Last Tycoon. There’s no pigeonholing this 28-year old star, whose father is the famed English musician Phil Collins. “I want to keep switching it up,” she says, “to surprise [people], but mainly to keep myself guessing.” Here, Lily talks about why, of all her projects, To the Bone hits especially close to home.

Like the girl you play in To the Bone, you had some personal experience with anorexia as a teen, didn’t you?
