The Aussie Star’s Career and Love Life Are Seriously Soaring

So many wonderful things are happening to me… I have an irrational fear that I’m going to have a gruesome and untimely death,’ Margot Robbie jokes – and she’s not wrong. Well, about the ‘wonderful things’ part, anyway!

At 26, the Aussie talent has starred in Oscar nominated films, become a fashion plate for the world’s best designers, emerged as a favourite of Hollywood’s top directors and, as of December 19, married the love of her life Tom Ackerley in a secret ceremony in the Byron Bay hinterland.

‘Everyone is always like, “You are an overnight sensation.” But next year I will have been doing this professionally for 10 years,’ she said in 2016, almost a decade after cutting her teeth on homegrown TV soap Neighbours. ‘It was the craziest thing. I graduated from school at the end of 2007 and by February 2008 I was working full-time,’ she reveals.

Here, we take a look at how Margot went from schoolgirl to superstar, and why she’ll never let fame go to her head! ‘I intend to stay the exact same person I always was,’ she says.

HUMBLE ROOTS

‘We were not well-behaved children,’ Margot admits, remembering how she, along with her brothers Lachlan and Cameron, and big sister Anya were absolute terrors, making their single mum Sarie’s job even harder! ‘We were absolutely nuts and would always be fighting. Mum did an amazing job wrangling all of us.’
