From celebs to young professionals, facial fillers are fast becoming a beauty norm. Now’s Health & Fitness Editor Lucy Gornall booked a consultation with practitioner Lee Garrett at London’s Harley Street to find out the facts

1. THE CONSULTATION 

As a fitness journalist, I’ve often wondered whether facial fillers would be something I’d consider – either now or later on. However, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a bit terrified of what’s involved.

So, after feeling empowered by a pre-office HIIT session, I decided to bite the bullet and book a consultation with Lee Garrett BSc Nurse Independent Prescriber – a fully qualified Aesthetic Nurse and private practitioner at The Garrett Clinic – to discuss whether or not the JUVÉDERM® range of facial fillers would be the right choice for me.

We started out with filling in a medical form, and Lee encouraged me to highlight existing skin bugbears and was quick to answer any questions I had.

This guy knows his stuff, and he also suggested a few non-radical changes to my existing routine to help prolong my skin’s natural radiance. For example, he advised using SPF50 to reduce sun damage – an important issue considering how much I like to travel to far-flung sunny places.
