Real Estate Will Soon Welcome Surreal Smart Homes.
How about a walking stick that guides its holder to the destination and uses GPS to navigate the path? Or, a robot that acts as a porter and carries your merchandise while shopping, quietly following you along? Better still, how about a car that drives itself and projects information about your destination on a screen inside? Or, a city where all houses are connected and all appliances talk to each other? Science? Yes. Fiction? No longer.
These are some of the things that are being developed by companies which are looking towards a technology embedded future to make life easier and smoother.
Some of these path-breaking technological developments were showcased at the Cross-Value Innovation Forum 2018 in Tokyo, marking the culmination of electronic giant Panasonic’s 100th Anniversary Global Exhibition Tour. Apart from consumer technologies, one of the key areas in which Panasonic has put its money for the future is in smart homes—connected and complete with gadgets and technologies that make life better. Sample this. At Panasonic’s Tokyo facility, there is a sample home called Wonder Life Box where the entrance doors are controlled by technology and open in a way similar to unlocking your smartphone through the retina and biometric scans.
