When R entered in Rajya Sabha

AS was already expected from them, considering the number of scrupulous characters becoming a Rajya Sabha MP last few years, they, with their unruly conduct, did it what they had been practicing outside lowering the dignity of the House. In the Monsoon Session, some of them climbed on the table and threw files at Chairperson. Creating ugly scenes have become a daily practice. Also as expected they don’t feel shame.

When R entered in Rajya Sabha

The latest case is of Congress MP Pratap Singh Bajwa. After his unruly act, he said he will not apologize for his behavior and “I will do it 100 times...(I) threw the file so that the Rajya Sabha chairman can read it. I have not committed any crime and have no regrets.” The most important fact should not go unnoticed is that for their stupid acts they are richly rewarded and appreciated by their high command. The behavior of Congress, TMC, and AAP members has proved that this House must be scrapped as early as possible.

Rajya Sabha has been seen as the backdoor entry for the politicians who have lost the general elections. It has become a haven for crony capitalists, compromised journalists, and party fundraisers. The legal protection parliamentary privilege affords the members making them behave like Moguls – too much privilege, too little accountability. Three prime ministers have been elected to the Rajya Sabha without having to face the electorate. It is clearly an anti-democratic way.

Several times the Rajya Sabha had been adjourned for lack of quorum. Besides this, Rajya Sabha is being manipulated to curtail and delay the various laws made by the Lok Sabha just for political gains, hence proving to be a major hindrance in the speedy legislative process. Even the ruling party is not an exception. There were many absentees in Rajya Sabha during the passage of the Tribunals Reforms (Rationalisation and Conditions of Service) Ordinance, 2021 bill. The Bill will replace an ordinance and abolish several appellate tribunals, to end retrospective tax. The absence of BJP Rajya Sabha MPs during the passage of this crucial bill has not gone well with PM Narendra Modi. Taking strong exception he has asked the Parliamentary Affairs minister to make a list of the MPs who were not present in the house.

TRADE WAR: CHINA'S WEAPONISATION OF RARE EARTHS

After Beijing announced new restrictions on exporting rare earth minerals and the specialised magnets they make, the world's auto industry warned of shortages that could force factory closures. China's recent skilful deployment of rare earth sanctions was probably the key factor in forcing Washington to reverse its tariff rises on the country. They represent a new era of Chinese economic statecraft — evidence of a sanctions policy capable of pressuring not only small neighbours but also the world's largest economy.

ket Ind Ind SUPER INTELLIGENCE

“Al has been driving the stock market to record highs, but the market has the look and feel of a super-bubble,” says James Rickards. He feels that “the crash could come anytime and bring the market down by 50% or more. That’s not a reason to short the major stock indices today. The bubble can last longer than anyone expects. If you short the indices, you can lose a lot of money being wrong. But it is advisable to lighten up on equity allocations and increase your allocation to cash in order to avoid the worst damage when the crash does come.”

STRENGTHENING TRUST IN THE STOCK MARKET

Securities and Exchange Board of India's 210th board meeting, held on June 18, 2025, saw the approval of a series of amendments designed to enhance various facets of market regulation and governance. Some of these changes were long overdue, while others—though technical—have the potential to quietly reshape market operations. The reforms are designed to simplify compliance processes, enhance transparency, and promote greater ease of doing business across the capital market ecosystem. Shivanand Pandit discusses in detail.
