Cyber Crime As An Industry Is A Well-Established Money Making Machine
Ransomware attacks have become frequent. What is McAfee’s approach to managing ransomware attacks? how does it differ from other cybersecurity products in the market?
At McAfee Labs, 10 years ago we use to see 25 threats a day, today we see around 500,000 new threats a day. We also saw new ransomware samples increased 80% since the beginning of 2016. This only goes to establish the fact that cyber crime as an industry is a well-established money-making machine now.
Considering the dynamic threat landscape, we have always proactively reached out to customers, creating awareness, and providing necessary preventive measures. We are looking for early detection capabilities with millions of sensors across the world to help provide vital information in subsequent variants.
From a protection perspective, we have our solutions updated with the latest DAT updates and McAfee’s Global Threat Intelligence cloud is equipped with the latest threat intelligence. We have also provided protection on our network based technologies such as McAfee Network Security Platform (NSP).
Our next generation capabilities such as Dynamic Application Containment, Real Protect and Advanced Threat Defense have already been able to protect our customers against the recent attacks.
Do the cybersecurity trends (in your survey or otherwise) point to any changes needed in your approach and how are you going about effecting
