BACKED BY THE UPCOMING NOIDA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN JEWAR, INDIA'S NORTHERN REGION IS ALL SET TO EMERGE AS AN AVIATION POWERHOUSE WHOSE IMPACT WILL BE FELT FAR AND WIDE
A MEGA PROJECT
First envisioned in 2003, construction of the first phase of one of Asia-Pacific's largest airports has finally commenced after many hurdles
1 Noida International Airport (NIA) will house two terminals with an annual capacity of 30 million passengers for Terminal 1 and 40 million passengers for Terminal 2 once completed; both terminals will be built in two stages
2 The airport is designed to ensure low operating costs and seamless and fast processes for domestic-to-domestic and domestic-to-international passenger transfers
3 Work is also underway to develop state-of-the-art infrastructure, product offerings and procedures for a multimodal cargo hub
4 The NIA master plan includes provisions for integrated and seamless road, rail, bus, and metro connectivity by setting up a multimodal transit hub at the ground transportation hub
