Drivers are being refused entry to quarries if they don’t hold a driver skills card, in a hard-line approach to tackle fraud.
Powys-based A E Gough & Sons says two of its drivers have been turned away by major quarries, even though they had certificates showing that they had sat the Mineral Products Skills Driver CPC course.
Boss Michael Gough complains that the system does not account for the length of time it takes to receive the cards after sitting the course.
