“No Deadlines On EV Switch Or Plans Of Banning Petrol And Diesel Vehicles” — Nitin Gadkari

Appropriate measures to boost Indian automobile sector to be announced soon, states the union minister.

Union Minister of Road Transport and Highway of India, Nitin Gadkari has added some clarity to the future of conventionally powered vehicles and EVs. The Government of India has not fixed any deadline for the switch to electric vehicles, neither does it have any plans on completely banning petrol and diesel powered vehicles in the country, confirmed Gadkari. He also added, that the shift to electric mobility will happen naturally. The Indian automobile industry has been going through a serious slump that has affected sales badly, compelling many dealerships to shut shop and leading to job cuts. Gadkari has acknowledged all these issues by stating that PM Narendra Modi is aware of the situation and appropriate measures will be announced soon.
