Electric Enfield
Classic Car Mart
|October 2017
This rare surviving example of the all-electric Enfield 8000 city car was recently discovered parked at a roadside in Birmingham by CCM contributor Paul Guinness. In the weeks since he first spotted the Enfield, it doesn’t appear to have moved – although, according to the DVLA, the car is currently taxed.
-
“It looks a little sorry for itself,” explains Paul, “and doesn’t appear to be used. There are some tiny solar panels on the rear parcel shelf of the car, presumably there in the hope of charging up the Enfield’s batteries – although what state those batteries are in nowadays is anyone’s guess.”
