Juxtaposition is a figure of speech that places two elements close together. In literature, this technique is often done to compare or contrast—etching out a character to magnify the differences between the two subjects. Though simplistic, this parallelism is an effective way to understand each entity using the obvious characteristics of the other one.

To understand the success behind the working relationship of mother and son Choie and Davit Funk, one must juxtapose the two of them. Those who were given the pleasure of working with them would say that they complement each other in many different ways. While it is common in the architecture practice for the succeeding generation to be a part of the firm that was established by the previous, it was a different story for the principal of Atelier Funk Architecture, and her son.
