In last week’s article, I discussed the benefits of irrigation geared for better carrot production. This week, I describe a case where a farmer did not buy into the idea.
The farmer, who was new to carrot production, planted an entire centre-pivot land to carrots.
I explained in detail how he should irrigate the crop, but he decided nonetheless to irrigate it the same way as he did his other vegetables.When I visited him again, he complained that his carrots were shorter than he would have liked. Then he admitted that he hadn’t taken my advice on irrigation.
