Ailing Ed Asner alarmed loved ones and pals when he predicted that he will die “soon” when he made a touching tribute to his just passed Mary Tyler Moore Show co-star Valerie Harper.

In a brassy but heartfelt tweet after hearing that Harper, 80, had died following a courageous battle with cancer on Aug. 30, the gruff 89-year-old actor praised Valerie, who played Mary’s neighbor Rhoda Morgenstern to his Lou Grant on the classic sitcom.
